龍鬚糖 / Dragon Beard Candy
お菓子と言えば、フランス菓子ばっかり考えるかもしれません。
アジアの国々にもそれぞれのご当地のお菓子があるんです。
実は和菓子も中国のお菓子から少しずつ進化してきたもの。
個人的に好きな香港菓子がいくつがあります。今回買って帰ってきたのはこの竹苑の「氷脆龍鬚糖」です。
普通に売ってる「龍鬚糖」と違って、これは４ヶ月までもちます。しかも、口に入れるとすぐ溶けてしまって、食感がいいです。
振替えて見れば、すごい技術の必要なお菓子ですね。なのに、そのうち消えてしまうじゃないかと考えたらちょっと寂しいです。
このドラゴン・ビアード・キャンディは麦芽糖などの糖類でラーメンのような発想でものすごく細くして落花生、砂糖とココナッツを包んでいるものです。２千年も前から作られたものでとても繊細です。
今回買ったのは、空港でしか手に入れない特別なもの。パッケージも勿論上品。値段も超高い！だって、１箱１８粒で3,000円相当の値段だった！！（＞＜）
お母さんへのお土産なので、ちょっと高めに！
おまけでもらったのはこの二粒。旦那とちょうど1粒ずつ食べれた。
食前15分ほど冷蔵庫に入れたら、冷たくて甘すぎず・・・やっぱり美味しい〜〜〜〜〜！！！！
I don't know why we only think of French pastry when we mention desserts. Well maybe sometimes Italian and Japanese sweets.
But then we all know Japanese sweets originated from Chinese sweets and there must be some interesting Chinese sweets out there that we don't know much about.
Speaking of Chinese sweets, there are a few that I quite like. This time I was lucky to have brought home some "Dragon Beard Candy" from the airport in Hong Kong.
"Dragon Beard Candy" is something invented 2000+ years ago. If you take a closer look at it, it consists of thousands of thin maltose threads wrapping around peanuts, sugar and coconut.
The ingredients used are not very fancy, but that particular chef from 2000+ years ago must be really skillful and smart to have come up with this idea!
French pastry doesn't even have a 2000+ year history! It's just sad that Chinese sweets aren’t developing fast enough to restore its prestige worldwide.

さくらさくら / Sakura Sakura
昨日用事でデパートに行ったとき、気になったお菓子を買ってきました。
買ったのはMille-fueilleの梅田阪急限定のさくらさくら。
Mille-feuilleは洋菓子屋さんだけど、これはちょっと気になるものでしたね。見た目は桜餅！でも大福の生地がフワフワそうでたまらなかった。
「中は何ですか？」と聞いてみたところ、
「中はイチゴのムースとチェリーが入っています。美味しいですよ！」と返事が。
あ〜、美味しそうだなと思って２つ買ってきたわけだ。
値段：一個315円（結構高い！）
味は？！
いける！！
私は大福の生地がすごく好きなので、この薄い生地とムースの組み合わせは結構気に入った！旦那も一口食べて目が大きくなって大満足のようだ。
「なにこれ？！！」を言うほどの意外な味だったみたいよ。
断面はこんな感じ ↓↓
スポンジにムース。ど真ん中にサワーチェリーも一粒入ってた。
桜の葉っぱとちょぴっとパンチがあって、美味しかった。
梅田に行ったら是非買ってみてください！（＾＾）ｂ

It looks like a Japanese sweet named SakuraMochi. But it's actually a strawberry mousse cake with sour cherry wrapped by a thin layer of mochi. They used a sakura leaf to enhance the look of it.
Taste was really good. Not too sweet. Hubby loved it!
But a bit pricy but I think it's worth the price. (315yen/piece)
It's only available at the Mille-feuille in the Umeda Hankyuu department store. Try to get a hold of it if you ever walk by this area. (^^)b

感想：
昨日用事で梅田に行ってきました。用事終えてからうろうろしているときここの店を見ました。
旦那はシュークリームが好きで「食べる？」と聞いたら、「買ってもいいよ」と言われた。それを聞いて、意地悪の私は「じゃあ要らない！」と言い返したんだ。
だって、食べたかったのは彼に違いない！なのに、そんな曖昧な言い方にすると、まるで私が食べたいなら付き合って食べてもいいよ〜のような言い方になったもの。なら要らないじゃないか〜☆
すると、旦那が拗ねて「食べたい」とやっとちゃんと自分の気持ちを素直に言えたのでした。ほっほっほ
まぁ、日本のわびさびとは言え、私にとってはちゃんと気持ちを伝わないとちゃんとしたコミュニケーションができないと思います。はっきりといわないとだめということを主張します。
とにかく、食べたのはマロンシュークリームとカスタードプリンシュークリーム。
いつものシューの皮と違って、コロッケのような形となっています。
さくさくするのですが、ぱさぱさするので、シューの食感というかな、面白いけど、普通のシューのほうが好きです。
中身のクリームですが、普通でした。
でもね、値段安いので、コストパフォーマンスと判断すれば、いいんじゃないかしら。
個人的には1回だけのおやつですけど。

Hubby loves cream puffs so I asked if he wanted to buy any. His answer was "I wouldn't mind if you want to buy some."
HA!!! He's the one who loves eating it and I was just suggesting if he would want to have some. But then he made it sound like I was the one who wanted to eat and would do me a favor if I REALLY want to buy it.
In order to make him express his true feelings I told him I didn't want any and started to walk away from the shop. hahahahaha
He then started to look back at the shop and finally told me "I want to have one."
It's a Japanese culture that people don't express their feelings directly but it doesn't work with me. Especially among the two of us. We're married afterall, if he can't be direct with me, how am I supposed to communicate with him?
Anyway, we got one chestnut cream puff and a pudding custard puff. They looked more like a deep fried potato croquette than a cream puff. Taste was so so. But since it was cheap I didn't mind it. Would probably not buy it again though.

バレンタインデー / Valentine's Day
Valentine's day in Japan is a really wicked marketing tool. Other than giving chocolate to the ones you love, you're obligated to give to those you interact with at work. So the chocolate sales amount goes sky high this month. Since I'm not working, I only have to give chocolate to my husband and my father and brother in law. Those who are working...probably had to pitch in to buy bulk for their male co-workers.
Anyway, it's fun to look around though. There are all kinds of beautifully made chocolate products out there. I couldn't beat the crowd so I didn't any but I was really caught by the new Japanese chocolate with "shochu" (Japanese liquer).
Last year I spent 2 hours looking around and finally ordered chocolate for my in laws. But this year I made an order through the internet to save some sweat.
As for hubby, this is what I got him.
Yeah, just some ordinary imported chocolate from SONY Plaza. But he was really happy to get it (he LOVES whiskey).
It's not like very classy chocolate but it did serve my purpose.
Look at the amount of Jack Daniel's inside. Enough to get you drunk. heehee

残念ながら、今日は天気が悪くてあまりやる気がなかったの。
確かに本を開いてトリュフでも作ろうと思ったが、外が雨で暗かったためあきらめた。（私は結構天気によってテンションが下がってしまいますよ）
でも、インターネットで材料を買ったので、後日改めて作りたいと思います。
さって、今日はバレンタインデー。
本来は女性がプレゼントをもらうべきなのにね、どうして日本では男性ばっかりがもらうだろう。海外では義理チョコというものは存在しないです。バレンタインデーだって愛する人と過ごす日。その人だけにプレゼントし合うですよ。性別は関係なく、恋人同士にとって大事な一日です。でも、日本では、義理チョコだけでも疲れてしまう人も多くいるでしょうね。
まぁ、それは別にして。私は働いていないのでチョコを買う個数も少ないです。旦那に勿論、そして義理のお兄さんとお父さんにね。
今年はデパ地下で買うのをやめて、インターネットで注文しました。
旦那の分はただごく普通のウィスキー入りチョコです。安い値段でSony Plazaから購入したもの。
でも、それは旦那の大好物ですよ。ウィスキーが大好きだから、とても喜んでくれました。
実はこれも今日じゃなくて数日まえ既に渡しておいて、彼はパクパクと完食しちゃいました。
まぁ、今度またちゃんとしたものを作ってあげますので、そのときまでということですね。（＾＾）ｂ

Henri Charpentier
友人が旦那にHenri Charpentierのチョコレートケーキを買ってきてくれました。
バレンタインデーの義理チョコよりも、ケーキもいいですね〜♪
前からずっと気になったHenri Charpentierのケーキやっと口にすることができたのだ。（＾＾）
友人によると、このチョコレートケーキは2月限定のものらしいです。
美味しかったよ〜♪
Hubby got a chocolate cake from our friend. This cake from Henri Charpentier was very delicious.
I've always liked the decoration they do with their cakes. But have not tried any so far.
