Went to North End again hoping we could have a real fancy dinner before the fireworks.
Unfortunately, most shops were closed and only a few were open. Without too many choices, we followed our memory and went to this place that we thought had a long line up the last time we went.
But we had the slightness idea that we actually made a big mistake.
Well, the food was so so. In fact I liked the soft shell crab on mango salsa (but it was not quite Italian, rather fusion actually).
Steamed mussels in lemon sauce was acceptable. Better than the one we had at McCormick's. But overall I would rate it 5 out of 10 since I could make similar dish at home.
As for entrees, we ordered filet mignon with sweet potato (a daily chef's recommendation). But soon after we ordered the server told us they ran out of sweet potato and would replace it with potato and we could choose from mash potato or wedges. I mean, the cost of the 2 potatoes are very different and the reason we picked that was because of the unique combination. We were in the restaurant at 6pm, it's just non-sense to tell us they ran out. If they didn't have it, just don't write it on the menu to begin with!!! I was disappointed about that.
Anyway, I ordered duck breast with a dried fig and nectarine sauce.
Sounds interesting eh? But the flavoring was way below expectation. The filet mignon was ok. I mean, how wrong can you go with it?! As for the duck breast, the sauce was just too sweet. I drank a whole glass of water with a sip after each bite of the duck!
Anyway, I won't be too harsh. Maybe it's just the American's taste. But I personally didn't like it. Hubby didn't either. We had some good food at EUNO last time but not at this restaurant.
With a glass of wine for each of us, we paid $113 in total including tip. For that price, I would have gone to a different place.
