西瓜爆発事件 / Watermelon explosion

土曜日にまた野菜類を買出しに行ってきました。
旦那とそれ違いでスイカ2個も買って来ましたが、まぁ、すぐ食べてしまうだろうしいいや。とキッチンに置きました。

さっき掃除していたら、あら、床に怪しい液体が散らかっているね。。。と気が付きました。

きっとごみを捨てたとき生ごみからもれたんだろうと確信して拭きました。

暑いし、スイカでも切って冷やしとこう！としたとき分かったことです、一つのスイカに割れ目がある！あらま、早く切らないと！

ささっと切って味見したら、もう完全に苦くなってきちゃった。（＞＜）私の大事なすいかが昨日の室温で爆発したんだ！

あ〜ぁ、テレビでは見たこと有るけど、まさか自分のキッチンでもスイカ爆発事件が起こるなんて信じられない。

と言うよりも、スイカ一個損しちゃってショック！（＞＜）

皆さん、暑い日にはスイカを室温で置かないほうがいいかもしれません。

Went to Haymarket to get some produce on Saturday. For some reasons, we ended up with 2 water melons at home.

Since we love eating water melon, it is not a difficult task to finish eating both of them, so we just left them sitting on the kitchen floor.

It is sunny out and I thought it's a good idea to cut and cool one of them. Just when I was reaching for one of them I realized there was some unknown liquid on the floor. It must have been from a leak when hubby took the garbage out last night! So I simply wiped it out without questioning further.

Not until later on when I was wiping the fruit and noticed a crack on it! Oh NO! My water melon exploded!!!

I quickly cut it and tasted some, the whole thing's already gone bad and bitter. (><)

So it actually exploded in the kitchen. It was not too hot yesterday but I guess we were out and the room temperature got a bit warm and the water melon riped too fast and exploded.

I've actually seen something similar on TV, but didn't think it would happen in my kitchen. Poor water melon...and I now have only 1 water melon left for the week. Urrgh!
