Roasted Fennel (anise) with Parmesan

アメリカのケーブルテレビってチャンネルが多くて迷っちゃう。。。

一番好きなチャンネルは勿論FOOD NETWORK！

旦那に文句言われるほど見ている（毎日テレビを見るわけじゃないけど、見るときほとんどFOOD　CHANNELってこと）。

その中にもいろんなショーがあって、昼間時々みるのがEveryday Italian。

もともとイタリアンが好きだし、Giadaは時々面白い料理を作るので、結構いいプログラムだと思います。

この前FENNELで簡単な料理を作るのを見て、昨日スーパーで買ってきて早速まねしてみた！

材料はFennel, Parmesan Cheese, olive oil, salt & pepperだけ！
作り方はレシピの通り。

Fennelを食べたのが初めて。食感、味と言えば青梗菜とセロリの間かな？少しくせがあるけどセロリのほどじゃない。チーズとマッチしていて結構気に入った！

Fennelと言う野菜は、こんな感じです。Aniseとも呼ばれます。スーパーではAniseという名前で表示されたわ。

上記のリンクによるとビタミンCが豊富で結構身体にいい野菜ですね。イタリアでは一年中収穫できて良く食べられる野菜だそうです。普及度と言うと日本での大根と白菜って感じかね？

とにかく新しい食材を体験していい一日でした。また作りたいと思います。（＾＾）ｂ

Out of the many channels available on cable tv, my favorite is, of course(!), Food Network!!

I do watch other channels but then since I can never remember what show is on what channel on what day, I usually just switch to 63 to get ideas for what to cook.

Not that I watch TV everyday, but whenever I'm watching it's highly likely that Food Network would be on. Hubby complains about it so I try not to watch it when he's around.

Anyway, one of the shows that I quite like is Everyday Italian with Giada. I don't love all of her recipes but I do get a lot of ideas from her cooking style and all.

I saw her roasting fennel the other day and decided to be a copycat!

So yesterday when we went to the supermarket I got a bulb of fennel (they call it anise here sometimes) and followed her recipe.

Turned out great! My first time eating fennel and I liked it! Will definitely make it again!
