桃太郎 葡萄 / MOMOTARO Grape

さっき世界バリバリバリューを見て桃太郎葡萄を見ました。

なにそれ？！と思うぐらい、一房15,000円もする葡萄なんだ。




へ〜ェ。。。確かにしっかりしていて、種もなく美味しそうだけど、そこまで払っても食べたいとは思わないからね。（というか、そんなにお金がないもの！）

日本では何でもランキングする文化があって、そして日本人はブランドに弱い民族ですね。
友人が夏に日本へ来たとき気がついたことですが、西瓜の糖度、河の級数、とにかく何でもかんでも数字を付けてあることに非常に興味をもった。

確かに海外ではそういうのはあまり見ないですね。
海外で買い物すると、大体甘さは数字ではなく、形容詞で表すものだ。Sweet corn, very sweetとかね、糖度何度みたいな表現し方多分逆に分からなくなるでしょうね。

でも、こんなに究極な栽培し方、食べ方もある一方、実際にその味を分かりながら食べてるというのは何人いるでしょうね。

私は知りたくても、高すぎて本当の美味しさを味わう機会がないかもしれないね。

そ、こういうときこそお金が欲しくなりますよね。ふっふっふ。

I heard about this MOMOTARO Grape on tv earlier this evening.

This is no ordinary grape!!!! It costs more than Cdn$150 for each bunch of it depends on the size and weight.

It is interesting how Japanese people rank food and other things. My friend noticed how they display the sweetness of fruits by the measurement of sugar content. And I am sure I can simply say Japanese people are pretty drawn to these ranking and branding thing. (or should I say Japanese is just too good at marketing?)

If I told you "this water melon is 79% sweet", would you have a clue exactly how sweet it is? Probably easier to just say "this water melon is really sweet!", right?

But how they grade things here in Japan is very unique. And I find it very interesting. But then sometimes the good things are ranked too high meaning they would become too expensive.

I don't know whether I would ever get to taste a grape that's so expensive.
