ケーキハウスショウタニ / Cake House SHOTANI
この前友人がお菓子を持ってきてくれました。
兵庫県にある和菓子の材料を入れたりする和洋Fusionお菓子を創作したりするケーキハウスショウタニ（庄谷）。
食べたのはこれだ↓↓結構こってる包装でしょう〜☆

豆ひとつぶというお豆腐を使ったスイーツだ。
中身は・・・
箱は横から開く。中にはざるのような容器にフィルムをひいてある。
ぱっと見たら「豆腐花」？？？と思ったが、それだけじゃなかった。豆腐は豆腐だけど、中にスポンジ、黒豆、生クリームも入ってます。一番上には味によってそれぞれのソースをかけられている。
断面で見ると分かるかなぁ？
全部で3つもあったので、マンゴ、キャラメルバナナ、そして栗味。それぞれ特徴があって美味しかったが、一番好きだったのは栗味。一番豆腐に合う味でした。
名前はひとつぶなんか書いてあるのに、一人じゃ一人前食べ切れません。2人に1個ぐらいならちょうどいいかも。豆腐って結構重たいからね。食後のデザートというよりも、「３点３」のおやつとして食べたほうがいいと思います。
このお店の看板商品としては、和三盆、黄な粉、黒糖、そして抹茶味のクッキー。前確かに頂いたことがあります。面白い焼き菓子でした。でも、材料が上品なので、それらのものは値段も高めだね。ホームページを見ると、生菓子は値段は普通にお手ごろです。
今年のベレンタインデーの贈り物をここの和風ダークワーズと栗ショコラにしちゃった。（＾＾）ｂ
インターネットショップって罪の種だ！やっぱり家で座っていてもお金は飛んでいっちゃうもんだ〜 （＞＜）
A friend brought us some interesting desserts the other day.
It's from a cake house called SHOTANI in the Hyogo area. I remember having some cookies from this very same place months ago. Very beautiful packing and interesting ingredients. They tend to mix the Japanese sweets ingredients in western sweets. The cookies I had were all Japanese style flavored. Green tea, Kinako, black sugar, and wasanbon sugar. All represent Japanese sweets.
Back to the ones we had the other day. This time it's a tofu based "cake".
It's not tofu cheesecake.
If you look at the pictures above, it's a layer of sponge, with fresh cream and black beans, topped with real tofu. Then with flavored sauce.
We had chestnut, caramel banana, and mango flavored. I somehow think chestnut was the only one that goes well with tofu. But the rest were ok too.
The portion is a little big for 1 person. Probably good for 2 and better not have it after a meal. Since tofu is quite filling itself, I'd suggest having it in the middle of the day as an afternoon tea snack or something like that.
Browsing the internet shop of SHOTANI and actually finished my Valentine's day shopping there. Internet shop is really convenient but it also makes you spend money even sitting at home. (><)
But at least I finished this task and won't have to go look for chocolate in crowded department stores. heehee

うなぎパイＶ．Ｓ．Ｏ．Ｐ / Brandy Eel Pie
昨夜友達が食事に来ました。
３人でちょっとした新年会を開きました。
友達が静岡県の実家に帰省していたので、お土産にうなぎパイを買ってきてくれました。でも、これはただのうなぎパイじゃなくて、なんとＶ．Ｓ．Ｏ．Ｐ．ブランデーパイなんだ。
普段のうなぎパイは「夜のお菓子」というらしい。でも、このＶ．Ｓ．Ｏ．Ｐ．うなぎパイは、それよりもすごいことで「真夜中のお菓子」と表示されています。（＃＾＾＃）
さすがにＶ．Ｓ．Ｏ．Ｐ．！大きい！！ただ、金色のパッケージの中には５枚しか入っていないので庶民の私にはちょっと物足りなかった。
味は美味しかったよ！しっかりした食感は一般のうなぎパイの溶ける薄さとは違います。マカダミアンナッツとブランデーの香りの相性もよかった。
残り２枚、明日ゆっくり食べます！
Got some "eel pies" from my friend.
Unagi pie is a famous item from Shizuoka prefecture. But what my friend brought us is not the ordinary unagi pie. Rather, it's called V.S.O.P. Unagi pie!!!
So well packaged in a golden box, nicely wrapped in golden wrappings. But with this fancy package, there were only 5 pieces inside. (T-T;;
Unagi pie is a snack made from pie dough. With a touch of unagi flavor but of course it's sweet!!! Usually, they are pretty light and would melt in your mouth pretty quickly. But this V.S.O.P. unagi pie was much firmer than the others. Yum!
One funny thing about unagi pie, is they call it a snack for night time. It would give you energy for your "activities" at night. With this V.S.O.P. unagie pie, it says it's the snack for the middle of the night, making it sound even more funny!!!
No wonder I couldn't get to sleep for 30 minutes!!! Hahahahaha!!!

犬ちゃんの誕生日ケーキ / birthday cake for a doggie
これは友達が犬の誕生会のために注文したケーキ。
でもね、これは人間用のケーキじゃなくて、犬の参加者達のために用意したケーキだったそうです。
幸せものだね。

三つの味の宇治茶ケーキ / Uji Tea flavored cakes
先日京都に行ったときこれを買ってきた。

日本に住んでいたら、昔「かわいい〜」と「美味しそう」なものに対してどんどん情熱が冷めてきて、お土産というものをあまり買う意欲がなくなりました。
でも、これはまた別ケース。自分でも作れるじゃないかと思えば、ちょっとサンプルとして購入しました。

紅茶味のケーキはよく見かけます。抹茶も結構あるもんね。しかし、煎茶と焙茶のお菓子は珍しいので惹かれました。
１０５０円で細長いケーキを６本って決して安くはない。でも、全体的にはかわいいと思いました。
味と食感はね、ちょっとフィナンシェっぽい。材料を見れば、ほぼフィナンシェと同じですのでご想像ください。お茶の香りがあるので、結構普通にいけてます。棒状にしてまた食べやすいし、このお土産はいい発想が入っていますね。
棒状の型はないが、今度是非自分で作ってみたいと思っています。
I don't usually buy these sweets stuffs from souvenirs shops, but this box of tea flavored cakes caught my eyes.
I got them not because I needed to give them to someone, but I wanted to see how to make it. So this was really a sample.
It's not cheap, 1050yen (Cdn10.50) for 6 tiny little sticks. But now I know it's not difficult to make them. And the tea flavor goes well with it.
It's common to see cakes flavored with western tea such as earl grey, or even green tea. But it's not common to see "sencha" and hojicha". I think it's a pretty good idea.
Will try making them next time. (^^)b

友人が2年間ブルガリアで青年海外協力隊の活動を終えて帰国してきた。久々会えてたくさんお喋りしたかったので喫茶店に入ることにした。
E-maの２階にあるTACY CAFEは花屋もやっているので、最初ちゃんと見てなかったら喫茶店を気がつかなかったぐらいちょぴっと隠れの感じがするところです。（食事のちゃんと提供しているみたいですが、食べたことがないのでコメントできません。）
一番気に入ったのは全席禁煙ということ。そしてメニュも結構面白いです。ケーキセットがないので、全て単品で注文します。大体飲み物だけで500円〜、ケーキは600円〜の感じです。
注文したのはショコラとチェリーのロールケーキとライチのミルクティ。ロールケーキは普段あまり興味がないが、意外と美味しかったです。クリームはちゃんとチョコレートが入っていて口溶けがよかったです。それに甘すぎず食べやすいケーキでした。ミルクティはブルーベリージャムを入れて飲むのが面白かったです。しかし、それはまた意外とおいしかった。でも、ライチの香りはそんなにしなかったかな。
ここは中国茶、台湾茶とかいろんなものがあるので、メニュに心をかけたと分かります。
唯一残念だったのは、場所が路面側の入口のすぐそばなので冬にはちょっと寒いかな。席を選ぶときは壁側のほうがいいでしょう。それらの席には膝掛けまであるのでありがたいです。
A friend just came back from Bulgaria after 2 years of volunteering work. We met up at Umeda and decided to sit down somewhere to catch up a bit.
We went to TACY CAFE in E-ma. It's a rare cafe that is all non-smoking (cuz' it's in an open area of the shopping mall).
I like their menu with a variety of drinks from different places. Some are their originals. Presentation is beautiful and cakes are not bad.
I had a chocolate roll cake and Lychee milk tea that serves with blueberry jam. Interesting enough, blue berry jam goes well with tea as sweetener! Though I couldn't taste nor smell any lychee.
The only complain I would have is the temperature. Since it's right next to the street level entrance to the mall, it gets pretty cold in the winter. So it's better to pick a tabel away from the entrance.
