Speaking of food, let's not just talk about restaurants. Grocery shopping is equally important when you live in a place.

When we first moved to Boston, we had no idea where to shop. Without a car we have limited alternatives so we usually just shop at places that are close to us or at least where we can get to by train.

So far we've been doing a lot of shopping at the following places.

1. Shaw's (sorta like a Safeway?)
2. Star (under the Shaw's chain, same thing)
3. Super 88 Market (a Chinese run supermarket where we shop for Asian stuff)
4. CVS (similar to London Drugs)
5. Hay Market (farmers market by Quincy Market that opens Fridays and Saturdays)

Well there are a lot other places out there like Trader's Joe, Market Basket (?), Costco, some Korean and Japanese grocery shops. But we still haven't been to those cuz' we can't go too far without a car.

At this moment we're happy with the produce shopping at Hay Market. It's just so cheap we keep buying every time we go there.

Last week we got a water melon for USD2.00 and a box of mango for USD4.00.

Things are generally half or less the price you'd pay at a supermarket and it's much fresher!

Thank to the size of the fridge we have at home we can buy many more different things now.

I can't wait till we get our local credit card in, then I can activiate a Zip Car account and go around with a car to somewhere further out! heehee

It was my birthday yesterday.
Hubby was sweet enough to get me some flowers. =)

What we did yesterday was actually quite meaningful!
We rented a van from U-Haul and moved furnitures to our place from a Japanese household who's moving back to Japan end of this month.

Due to my silly mistake, I changed my rental froma 10 feet truck to a small van, so the queen size bed wouldn't fit with the rest of the things and we had to make 2 trips. But thanks to Kawahara-san things went smooth.

Oh and driving was fun! Boston is not that difficult though they all say the drivers in Boston are the worst in the USA.

Anyway, after we moved everything and rested for a bit, we went out for dinner at Victoria. Had some nice Chinese food and then Take (Kawahara-san) treated us some wine & cheese at his place.

A very good way to celebrate a brithday!

So you think these shopping carts look really out of fashion and only older people use them? Not the case here in Boston. Since not everybody has a car here a lot of younger people do go shopping with carts like this!

We got this from the supermarket we went to and didn't realize it was so big. (It looked small in the shop) But then I guess it would be a good size for shopping every 1 or 2 weeks.

Finally arrived in Boston 2 days ago.

This time we flew in via Vancouver and Toronto. Thanks to that we were able to spend some time with my family. I haven't seen my family for almost a year. My parents were so happy and it was great to see them. I even got a laptop computer from my brother so I don't have to be stucked with my husband's antique pc anymore!!! hahahahahaa It is always good to be the youngest in the family isn't it! heehee

I realized this time that carts at the airports are not always complimentary. We had to pay 2 bucks for each cart in Toronto and 3 bucks for one in the Logan Airport in Boston. Though you get a 25 cents reward for returning it to the line, it is still very expensive!

Weather here is a bit cold. It was quite pleasant when we got here on¡¡Saturday. Then it started raining yesterday and the temperature dropped a bit. East coast afterall.

Since it was Sunday yesterday we got to wander around town a bit. In order to kill jet lag I had to keep myself busy. But I still napped for about 2 hours in between. Went to Chinatown and downtown. It was really quiet. Dunno whether it's because of the baseball game yesterday but the downtown area was literally DEAD!

But I am glad that the Chinatown is pretty big here. And I could find pretty much whatever I need. Even better than Japan! heehee, now I can at least have BBQ duck whenever I want! (^^)

Monday today. Raining out. A bit chilly. We'll go visit hubby's school in a bit, then maybe have lunch in Chinatown if we have enough time. In the afternoon, we'll meet up with the real estate agent and start looking at some apartments.

Time to get busy! Stay tuned!

A friend from Korea is visiting at the moment. Just so happened another mutual friend of ours visited him in Soeul before that, they brought me a huge bag of goodies from Korea.

One interesting thing is they both got me some Korean Ginseng stuffs. Tea packs and some power boosting drinks. Guess they both know my body structure well enough. hahahahahaha

Anyway, I was a bit tired the other day and tried this Ginseng D-28 drink before leaving for Tokyo. It was not bad. Not as sweet as OronamiC (a popular power drink in Japan), which is good, and it's not bitter like I expected. Quite pleasant actually.
