この前韓国系のスーパーで買ってきたRed Ginseng Honey Jujube Teaドリンク・・・



漢方の考え方だと、女性にとてもいい材料ですね。
血液を補充してくれるドリンクは貧血気味の私にとっては最適♪

粉じゃなくて、液体状になっているので、溶かす必要もなくて便利ですよ。効果はまぁまぁ良かったかな。手間かからないし、値段もそんなに高くない（５００円ぐらい？）ので経済的だよ。

日本ではよくCUOCAで製菓材料を買ったりしたんですが、ここに来て、スーパーでは大体揃ってるので、今まではスーパーで基本なものを買っていました。

でも、考えたら、なんか高いなと思って、もっと安いイーストとか、板ゼラチンなどを探していました。
サーチした結果、いつも愛用しているKing Arthur Flourのネットで結構いろいろ売っているのを発見！



先ず一番嬉しかったのは板ゼラチンが売っていること。
ここでは粉タイプが多いので、なかなか手に入らないですね。
日本食品を売っている壽屋で見たけど、高くて買えませんでした。

結局ブレッドミックス（オリーブ入りのものとか、ハーブ入りのミックスなど・・・）、脱脂粉乳、業務用サイズのインスタントイースト、強力粉、板ゼラチン（２０枚入り）を購入して送料込みで４０ドルかからなかった！

特に安くはないけど、全部スーパーで買ったらきっともっと高いし、そもそも売ってないものもあったし、結構嬉しかった。

お菓子作りが好きな方は是非見てみてください。

I used to shop a lot with CUOCA while I was in Japan. It is not particularly cheap but they carry a very fine collection of ingredients and supply for baking and cooking.

Since I moved to Boston, things are pretty much readily available at the bigger supermarkets so I didn't really bother look around too much.

But then I thought the prices were not too reasonable so I started to search for other sources. Then I found the online shop of King Arthur Flour!

It has a pretty good collection of what I want. Things like a bigger package of instant yeast that is much cheaper than the ones you get from the supermarket, sheet gelatin, milk powder (for baking bread), and even some herb bread mix!

I'm not sure whether I did save a lot of money shopping with them. But since I was able to get the more niche items that are not usually on the shelf, I was thrilled to have found it.

So I got a 5kg bag of bread flour, 2 packages of herb / olive bread mix, a pack of sheet gelatin (20 sheets), 1 pack of instant yeast, and 1 pound of milk powder for under $40 with shipping included. I'm a happy girl! =)

ボストンから車で40分ぐらいの距離にあるWrentham Villageアウトレットに行ってきました。
最近いろんな人から聞いていて、前ボストン在住だったJさんの勧めも重ねて昨日Zipカーで行ってまいりました。

メインな目的は主人の冬服の買出しとキッチン用品を見ること。

朝9時過ぎに出発して、10時ぐらいに着くようにしましたが、途中ハイウェイ93・95の交差点があって、不注意でルートからつれてしまった。もともと95を走ってたのに、真直ぐ行ってしまったらなんと93になっちゃって・・・（＞＜

まぁそれは10分ほど余計な時間をかかって10時半ぐらいにやっと辿り着きました。（＾＾）ｂ

午前のWrenthamVillageはまだ人が少なめで回りやすかったです。あっという間にお金が飛んでいってしまいました。（＾＾；；

正直私は服類を買ってませんよ〜♪

午後2時ぐらいに主人の買い物を終えて。次は私のタイム！

OXOのサラダSpinner（水分と飛ばしてくれる道具）

前々から欲しかったので、値段を見て買いに行きました。
実はこの大きさのもので一番安い値段じゃないですよ。割引、税込みで＄23.60ぐらいかな。インターネットでは20ドルで買えるかもしれませんが、郵送代と待つ時間を考えると、まぁそんなに変わらないのでその場で買いました。私はやっぱり節約下手ですね・・・

オリーブオイルのスプレーです！

オリーブオイルを入れて、ポンプしたら細かいスプレーができるのです。見た瞬間欲しくなりました。でも、それはいい決定じゃなかったわ。だって、インターネットで10ドルで買えるのが後から分かったの。私払ったのは15ドルぐらいかな。

中はこんな感じです。蓋をしてポンプする形になっています。


買うならアマゾンで買ったら安いかもよ！（郵送代無料の時狙ってね！）



これは言わなくても分かるかな？手動のチョッパーです。
にんにくとか野菜を細かく切るのに便利な道具です。
前も買おうとしたことがあって、お店の人に他のものを勧められて買わなかったです。今回はゲット！
ほとんどのブランドはプラスチックだけど、これは本体ステンレスでちょっと格好いいと思った。
まだ使っていないので感想は後ほど。



これはパイを焼くとき使う重しです。
日本で買うとかなり高いので今までお米を使ってました。
昨日Williams-Sonomaでこの瓶込みのセットを見たのでやっと買う決意をしました。税込みで5.5ドルぐらいでした。

今回のような買い物はもう暫く無いと思います。
今まで抑えていた買い物する欲望が一気に爆発したので、また暫く持つはずです。（＾＾；；

買い物した感想／アドバイスとして、Wrentham　Villageがアウトレットであることだから必ず安いことは限りません。

なので、行くなら前もって買いたいものをインターネットで値段をチェックしてから行ったほうがいいでしょう。
最近思ったけど、Amazonで買い物するのが割りと安いときが多いのね。本もそうだし、こういったキッチン用品も実際に安い場合か多いので、例え郵送料がかかっても、わざわざWrenthamまで行く必要も無いかも。まぁ、一日旅行と考えればいいかもしれないけど。

洋服とかは結構安くなるときがあるけど、店によって割引対象にならない商品も混ぜて置いてあるので、買うときはちゃんと確認するのがお勧めです。

そして、昨夜家に帰ってきて領収書を確認したところ、有る店がDiscountしてくれるのを忘れたことを発覚しました。それはまた面倒
なことですよね・・・後で電話して解決しないといけない。ちゃんとお金を送ってくれればいいけど、そのためにお金を使ってもう一度レンタカーをして、時間を掛けて取りに行きたくないからね。

なので、そういう場合もあるので、ややこしい場面を避けるため、買い物をする際にちゃんと領収証を確認したほうがいいですよ！

でも総合的に言うと、楽しかったです。
気に入ったもの、欲しかったものを安い値段ね買えたのが嬉しかった。

キッチン用品を買うなら、Williams-Sonomaが一番お勧めです。そこは全品25％オフですので、結構お得です。アウトレットの中でも値段比べができますので、高くついたと思ったら遠慮なく返品すればいいのよ〜♪

After hearing so much about it from our friends, we finally decided to go to Wrentham Village Outlet to get some winter cloth for my husband and to check if the kitchen gadgets would be any cheaper.

We ended up buying so many things!!!

Hubby got almost everything he needed for the winter. Hat, gloves, jacket, backpack, shoes, outfits...etc. He was one happy guy!!

As for me, I got a free hat and all the rest of my shopping was for the kitchen.

If you looked at the pictures above you'd notice what a freak I am. =)

A salad spinner, a chopper (the stainless part was good), an oilve oil sprayer (cool don't you think?!), some ceramic beans for baking pies...etc.

One thing I've learnt from shopping at discounted store, is to make sure you really need it! That I learnt when I was in grade 10 after buying a pair of pants that I would never wear just because it was cheap.

Now, another rule of thumb is (after failing to do so yesterday) to not get things randomly. Cuz' they may not be the best deals on earth!

I must say most of the things we got yesterday were pretty good deals. Except this olive oil sprayer, something that I encountered for the first time, I got hooked the moment I saw it. I paid 15 dollars for it but I just realized it's only $10 at Amazon. Oh well...

Other than that, I would suggest you to always check your receipts after each purchase. You know how you just shop and put it into your wallet. But we came home last night and realized one of the shops forgot to discount us on one of the pricy items we got. Now I'd have to call them to find out how we can settle this price difference. I ain't going to zip a car and spend 3 hours on the road to pick up the money for this is their mistake. Hope they can easily manage to send me a check for it.

Yeah so that was our Saturday. We spent half a day shopping. And the driving part was great. Though we got lost somewhere along the line when highway 95 changes to 93 and we had to make a detour to get back on track (there must have been some signs saying I have to turn right to stay on 95, but I missed it and went straght ending up on 93). But it was good to be out for a day.

昨日週2回ヴォランティアしているBelmontへ行ったとき、Farmers' Marketの看板を発見！

毎週の木曜日にMacy's（デパート）の駐車場で行われているみたいです。

帰りに行ってまいりました。

そんなに大きいマーケットじゃなかったけど、全部ローカル（Belmont)の人が出店しています。

ヘイマーケットと違って、大量に売っていない。人も少なかった。
でも、面白いものがいろいろ見ましたよ。

先ず、無農薬なので、安心して食べていいこと！
そして、午後2時から開催するマーケットだったので、朝とった新鮮なものばっかり。

但し、値段はヘイマーケットと違って、高めでした。
まぁ、少量生産のせいか、無農薬のせいかわからないけど・・・

買ったのは：

なすとトマト



なすの色可愛いでしょう！？実はトマトも種類が違って、「シマウマトマト」（？）と言うんだって。



一般的なものじゃないので、これだけでUSD5.25（たか！）

で、次に買ったのはインゲン豆


あまりにも新鮮で買っちゃいました。
ヘイマーケットでは1ドルだけで4食分買えるのに、ここでは1食分で1.20ドルでした。

最後に買ったのは花入りサラダミックス：


これも新鮮で無農薬だったのでつい手出してしまった。。。
高かった（4.5ドル）けど、たま〜にはいいっか？！（＾＾）ｂ

ここのメリットは無農薬ということ。
フルーツとかも全部そう。りんごにはワックスがまだつけてない状態で売っています。本当に体にいいと感じるぐらいです。

でも、値段も考えてみるとやっぱりヘイマーケットのほうが経済的ですね。昨日買ったもので12ドルぐらいかかったけど、その値段でヘイマーケットでは2週間の食料をそろえるからね。（＾＾）ｂ

因みに今日は金曜日、後でヘイマーケットに行ってこようかなぁ。。。

Went to Belmont for my voluteer work yesterday and saw a sign saying "Farmers' Market today!"

OH, Farmers' Market!! Not to be missed!!!

So on my way home I stopped by the parking lot behind Macy's and walked around a little bit.

It was a relatively small farmers' market. Maybe about 10 booths. And they didn't bring a lot of stock. Though all of them were extremely fresh (picked in the morning and started selling at 2pm).

Other than corn, tomato, potato, beans, eggplants and some fruits like raspberry, apricot, peach, apple and such, they also sell lamb and some cheese. Some sold bread and dessert sauces, quite an interesting mix.

Unlike haymarket, prices at this farmers' market are not cheap. Well since they are not very big farms and the fact that they don't use spray reduces the quantity of their produces.

I got some interesting eggplants, tomatoes, extremely fresh string beans, and some gorgeous looking salad mix with fresh flower!

But I paid the price! They added up to be around 12 dollars. With the same price I could have bought enough veggies for 2 weeks + from Haymarket!

Well I suppose it's ok to do this once in a while! Afterall, organic food is good for you! =)
